Ryan Hassell is a dedicated music educator, skilled piano technician, and lifelong musician with a deep passion for teaching and performance.
A 1991 graduate of Central High School in Park Hills, MO, Ryan went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Church Music from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, and later completed a Master of Music in Church Music from Golden Gate Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA. While studying at Golden Gate, Ryan trained under respected pianist and educator Max Lyall, through whom he can trace his musical lineage back to both Beethoven and Haydn—an extraordinary connection that continues to influence his teaching and musicianship today.
In 1990, Ryan toured Europe as a tenor with the Missouri Ambassadors of Music, and in 1994, he toured England and Scotland with the William Jewell Concert Choir.
Since 2001, Ryan has served as the middle and high school choir director for the West St. Francois County R-4 School District, where he has impacted the lives of countless students through music. In addition to his work in the classroom, he has contributed to the musical journeys of others, including Jeremy Boyer of Potosi, one of his former organ students who now serves as the official organist for the St. Louis Blues.
In 2007, Ryan founded Hassell’s Piano Tuning and has since built a strong reputation as a trusted piano technician. He received hands-on training from several highly respected technicians, including Ron White, Pat Milfield, Ron Koval, and Chuck Behm. His expertise and attention to detail have made him a go-to professional for piano tuning throughout the region.
Ryan is a proud member of several professional organizations, including the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA), Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
He and his wife, Angie, live in Farmington, MO. Angie is the 7th-grade science teacher for the Fredericktown School District. The couple are active members of Open Heart Assembly Church in Farmington, where they serve together on the worship team. Outside of their professional lives, Ryan and Angie enjoy traveling, participating in trivia nights, working in their yard, and most of all, spending time with their first grandson, Keith.
